En 1948, Magda rêve d’une vie meilleure. Cette jeune Espagnole décide de fuir l’Espagne pour échapper au chômage et au régime autoritaire de Franco. À ses yeux, la France est une terre de cocagne et, en s’installant dans un petit village provençal, elle espère se faire engager comme coupeuse de lavande.
Mais dans ce paysage idyllique, entre blés dorés et champs bleus de lavande, les mentalités sont étroites. Les paysans voient d’un mauvais œil cette belle jeune femme qui menace leurs intérêts. Même la passion naissante entre Magda et André, l’érudit fils de paysan de la région, est violemment contrariée par les parents du jeune homme : la jeune Espagnole, sans argent et sans dot, n’a rien de bien concret à offrir.
Face aux douloureux préjugés et rongée par un désir de vengeance, Madga va devoir faire des choix. Au risque de mettre en marche l’effrayante mécanique d’un drame…
